The Restaurant

Almost two years after the closure of the legendary Toscana at The Ritz Carlton Hong Kong, its former Executive Chef—Hong Kong’s very own “Best Italian chef in Asia” Umberto Bombana is back with his most personal and distinctive project ever.

In January 2010 Bombana opened 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA to delight the gourmet palate again with his unique, sophisticated yet and contemporary culinary creations. Strategically located in the heart of Central in the elegant Alexandra House, the new project
of the Italian maestro has already become the hottest high-end fine dining spot in town. The restaurant name, selected personally by Bombana as a tribute to his favorite Italian film director Federico Fellini’s 1963 autobiographical movie “8 ½”, is a celebration of both Italian lifestyle and art and an invitation to enjoy and discover life pleasures. After few months 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA has been awarded with Two Michelin Star, and finally the Third one arrived in December 2011: the Restaurant became the first and only Three Michelin Stars Italian restaurant outside Italy.

Located in the second floor of Landmark Alexandra, the restaurant occupies a total of 4,700 square feet space. Overlooking the famous bustling street view of Chater Road, the spacious main dining room can accommodate up to 55 pax, while the two delightfully-decorated private dining rooms can sit 12 guests each.
The great chef ’s commitment to delight his guests delivering only the best Italian cuisine using the freshest ingredients is even more enhanced at 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA, for which he has taken care of every detail from kitchen to interior design to ambience and menus.

Japanese studio design post headed the interior design of 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA under the attentive supervision of Chef Bombana. Apart from the dining area, the restaurant features a cozy lounge and bar area with wooden decorations recreating the ambience of a “forest” and soft lightings.
